Classifications

Locations and mobs are accompanied by a classification that describes the element’s behavior towards the player. A game element’s classification can change throughout the game depending on the player’s choices and the player’s current Understanding Scales with the Shades.

Hostile

A term used to describe dangerous and aggressive game elements that will attack or execute negative effects on the player when in range regardless of the player’s behavior (“Mob”).

Neutral

A term used to describe game elements that fluctuate between hostile and passive depending on the player’s behavior. Neutral game elements may begin hostile and turn passive after the player executes a particular action or series of actions. Neutral game elements may also instead begin passive and turn hostile once provoked by the player. Different game elements have different ways of being provoked (“Mob”).

Passive

A term used to describe game elements that will not attack and execute negative effects on the player regardless of the player’s behavior. Some neutral entities may also produce positive effects on the player (“Mob”).
